Blaze destroys East Penn mobile home

A mobile home in East Penn Township was ravished by a fast moving fire early Friday morning.

Township fire Chief Brenden McArdle said the blaze was reported at 3:10 a.m. at 832 Blue Mountain Road.

“It was a vacant mobile home that was fully involved,” McArdle said. “The fire was quickly extinguished, had it contained within about 15 minutes of us arriving.”

McArdle said there were no injuries, but added the home is a total loss.

He said crews remained on scene to extinguish and provide overhaul.

McArdle said crews remained on scene for about two hours.

“It was pretty straight forward,” he said. “We had good apparatus placement, really no exposures to deal with so we were able to get right to fire attack.”

McArdle said the cause of the fire is unknown and remains under investigation by a state police fire marshal.

Assisting at the scene were the Mahoning Valley Fire Department, Bowmanstown Fire Department (to establish a fill site due to the fire’s remote location), and Lehighton Ambulance.
