The annual Memorial Day Weekend AACA Car Cruise and Ethnic Food Picnic will be held this Sunday at No. 9 Coal Mine and Museum in Lansford.
A car cruise open to antiques, classics, street rods, trucks and other vintage vehicles begins at 10 a.m. and guided underground mine tours begin at 11 a.m., when the food pavilion also opens.
Admission is free, and there are no vehicle registration fees, no judging and plenty of free parking. DJ Shawn will provide the music.
Homemade foods include halupki, halushki, pierogies in butter and onions, ham and bean soup, hamburger and turkey barbecues, hot dogs, chili dogs, pickled eggs, homemade desserts, coffee, soda, ice tea, fresh tapped birch beer and water.
The region’s largest mining museum and gift shop are also open Sunday at the No. 9 complex. Visitors are invited to check out the restoration and reconstruction of the nearly 150-year-old Dorrance mine fans in a new building underway on the grounds.
The event is held rain or shine, and the No. 9 mine complex is located 9 W. Dock St. in Lansford. Call 610-597-6722 for further information.
