State police at the Pocono barracks reported the following incidents that occurred on the Northeast Extension of the Pennsylvania Turnpike:
• Leidy Samaca, 28, of Lehman Township, was charged with tampering with public records after an incident at 5:47 p.m. May 2 at mile marker 86.3 in Penn Forest Township.
Police said she was stopped in a 2014 Mitsubishi Outlander for a registration violation, after which she produced fraudulent documentation about the vehicle. They said the registration plate, registration card and an insurance card were all fraudulent.
Police said victims in the case are Geico Insurance, Chevy Chase, Maryland, and PennDOT.
The vehicle was towed from the scene.
• Police are investigating the theft of about 20 feet of copper wire that was stolen from a turnpike cell tower building off Hill Road, Washington Township, between midnight May 4 and noon May 5. The wire is valued at $1,000, police said.
• A driver was stopped for speeding at 12:26 p.m. May 7 at mile marker 97.4 in Kidder Township.
Police did not identify the driver of the 2007 Subaru Forester they said was traveling at 96 mph in a 70 mph zone, but said the vehicle displayed fictitious annual and emission stickers. It was determined the vehicle was recently purchased through a private sale, and that the stickers were on the vehicle when the sale was made.
Police said victims in the incident are Bridgestone Retail OPS LLC, Erie, and Dom’s Automotive Works, Scranton.
