Nesquehoning

Historical Society

The Nesquehoning Historical Society is hosting a full-day railroad excursion to Pottsville at 9 a.m. June 26.

The Reading and Northern train leaves the Nesquehoning station and travels to Pottsville where passengers can then enjoy a tour the Yuengling Brewery, the Yuengling Mansion, Jerry’s Car Museum and more.

Senior Center

The Panther Valley Senior Center announced the menu for May 26-30.

Monday: Center closed.

Tuesday: BBQ Riblet, Diced Potatoes, Baked Beans, Cantaloupe or Harvest Chicken Salad.

Wednesday: Stuffed Chicken, Potatoes, Peas and Onions, Applesauce or Turkey Pepperoni Sandwich.

Thursday: Minestrone Soup, Meatball Sandwich, Salad, Pears or Beef and Salad with Turkey.

Friday: Picnic Lunch.

Center closed on May 26 in observance of Memorial Day; Bingo on May 27 at 10:45 a.m.; Horseracing on May 28 at 11 a.m.; Po-Keeno on May 29 at 11 a.m., Memorial Day Picnic and Cakewalk on May 30.

Yahtzee on June 2 at 11 a.m.; Bingo on June 3 at 10:45 a.m.; Game Day on June 4 at 10:30 a.m.; Po-Keeno on June 5 at 11 a.m.; Balloon Tennis on June 6 at 11 a.m.

Cards, pool, games available daily from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. New members are welcome.

Panther Valley

End of the year

Panther Valley School District announced the following end of the year business.

Early dismissals will take place May 29, 30 and June 2. The high school dismisses at 11:30 a.m.; intermediate and elementary schools, 12:15 p.m. The last day of school is June 3. Students will dismiss at 10:45 a.m. from the high school and 11:30 a.m. from the intermediate and elementary schools.

The last day of cafeteria lunches is June 2; while the last day of breakfast is June 3.
