To the Pleasant Valley School Board: Are you kidding me? You are proposing a 2% increase on our taxes. This on top of the significant county tax increase this year, and with school property tax increases since 2018-2019, we are being subjected to another tax increase? What are our students and parents getting from the taxes we already pay? According to GreatSchools.org, and based on several metrics, PV elementary school is rated 6/10, the middle school as 4/10 and the high school as 5/10. All failing grades. These ratings are also supported by publicschoolreview.com. My husband and I do not have children, but are ardent believers in the value of education. We have never complained about school taxes, but this is a bridge too far. And while I am at it, why did the school district not apply for funding from the American Rescue Act? Why are we spending a significant amount on a reading program? Don’t our schools have libraries? Shame on the school board and the superintendent, who, by the way received a healthy pay increase for leading our schools to failing grades. Taxpayers are not a bottomless pit of money. It’s time you all learned a lesson in economics, sharpened your pencils and budget the money you already have without a tax increase.
