Contests to win the Republican nominations for seats on the Franklin Township and Mahoning Township board of supervisors are the only Primary Election contested races Tuesday in the Lehighton area.

The Franklin Township race is between Anthony R. Frantz and Nicholas Storm.

On the Mahoning ballots are four Republicans seeking to win two nominations. They are Robert Slaw, Mark Schwalm, Matthew Wentz and Steve Chuckra.

Otherwise, every other candidate on either the Democratic or Republican ballots in the two townships and four other Lehighton area municipalities is unopposed and will advance to the General Election in November.

Lehighton School Board

Voters in East Penn, Franklin and Mahoning townships and Lehighton, Parryville and Weissport boroughs will participate in balloting for positions on the Lehighton Area School District board. There are five spots set to be filled this year, including four four-year terms and a two-year term and one two-year term, and there is competition in the Primary Election for both terms.

Eight people are seeking both Democratic and Republican nominations for the four four-year terms. They are Kirk Henritzy, Duane A. Dellecker, Alex Matika, Lory A. Frey, Kasara B. Weinrich, Joy Beers, Denise Hartley and Timothy M. Tkach.

Seeking both parties’ nominations for the two-year term are Darrin Dotter and William Howland.
