Tamaqua police log
Tamaqua police reported on the following incidents:
• Police cited Crystal Lissett DaSilva, 37, and Ashley Kane, 36, both of Tamaqua, with harassment and disorderly conduct following a 7:36 p.m. May 10 fight at their home on unit block of East Elm Street.
Police said a woman called police to report the fight and showed officers a video of her neighbors, Kane and DaSilva, arguing in their backyard. Police said that in the video, bruises could be seen on Kane’s back, and she could be heard yelling and asking neighbors to call police.
Kane told police she did not want to press charges and claimed it was a verbal argument. She then left.
Police spoke to DaSilva, who had scratches on her neck that she claimed were from a romantic encounter she had with Kane the evening before. She said the argument was verbal and that Kane had fallen after slipping on dog urine.
Another neighbor showed officers a surveillance camera video where a “loud thud” could be heard before Kane began yelling to neighbors. Police contacted Kane again but she again claimed it was a verbal argument.
Police told the two that they were to have no contact with each other and that they would be cited.
• Alysha Hartshorn, 38, of Tamaqua, was charged with endangering the welfare of children, driving under the influence and disorderly conduct following a 12:14 a.m. May 12 incident on the 900 block of East Broad Street.
Police said they were sent to the area for a call of a vehicle stopped in the middle of the road. Callers said a person was running around with a firearm and loud music was playing inside the vehicle.
Officers arrived and saw Hartshorn stopped in the middle of the westbound lane with all the vehicle’s doors and rear cargo lift open. Hartshorn refused to place her hands behind her back, and was taken to the ground so police could secure handcuffs.
Police said videos from witnesses show Hartshorn walking in the middle of the roadway. Hartshorn told witnesses that a person was running around with a gun; however, police located an unloaded rifle in her rear passenger seat.
Hartshorn did not respond to a request to have her blood drawn; therefore, she was charged with driving under the influence.
Hartshorn told police that she could be released into the custody of another adult at her residence, but when police arrived, no adults were there.
“A small child’s head could be seen peeking through the third story window of the residence,” police wrote in their criminal complaint. Hartshorn then said she didn’t know if an adult was with her children.
Police contacted the children’s father and transported Hartshorn to the police station, where she was placed in a holding cell.
She was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Stephen Bayer and released on $5,000 unsecured bail. A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for June 24.
