Tamaqua police said Chris Ebersole, 37, of Tamaqua, stole items from a man’s parked car and then attempted to attack the man inside a borough convenience store.
Police said Ebersole will be charged with theft by unlawful taking, disorderly conduct, harassment, public drunkenness following the 3:30 a.m. April 29 incident on the 400 block of West Broad Street.
According to police, the man reported that items were taken when he was inside the store. His keys, along with items from his trunk and glove compartment were missing; they included a set of wretches, pliers, battery tender, paperwork, door handles for the car, books and prescription glasses.
When police were on their way, they were advised that the man was being attacked by Ebersole inside the store.
An investigation revealed that Ebersole had been drinking all day, took the items and then went back to the store to try to kick and punch the victim, police said.
The man said that he just had carpal tunnel surgery and was unable to defend himself.
He said that none of the strikes thrown by Ebersole made contact with him.
