S. Carbon is Senior Games champ

The dust has settled and returning champions South Carbon County, comprised of Lehighton and Palmerton seniors, are the top team for the 2025 Carbon County Senior Games.

The final scores are South Carbon County, 737; and North Carbon County, comprised of Panther Valley, Weatherly and Jim Thorpe, 448.

The South took many of the top places during Wednesday’s events, which included bingo, pinochle, rummy and dancing, the last day of competition after the miniature golf event was canceled due to the weather.

Anne Horrigan, director of the games, thanked everyone for making this year another successful event.

She added that it is important for seniors to stay active and urged the participants to bring their friends next year, citing the increase in Palmerton’s team as a success.

The games will officially conclude at 4 p.m. on Friday with a banquet at the American Legion in Lehighton.
