Commissioners in Monroe discuss busing
Busing was on the agenda for the Monroe County commissioners.
The commissioners approved the 2024-25 Medical Assistance Transportation Program third quarter report at their meeting on May 7. It showed expenditures in the amount of $151,002.72.
Commissioner John Christy said, “We have members of the Transit Authority here today. One of the many things they do is take care of medical assistance transportation. I know it is not an easy job, but it is a vital job, and I thank you for the work that you do.”
The commissioners also approved a local match for the Transportation Authority for State Operating Financial Assistance in the amount of $241,074 for 2025-26. Christy asked the authority to speak about what the money goes toward.
One of the members explained that “the funds actually match $5.2 million worth of grants that we get from the federal and state government to run our system, so that will basically help us to provide fuel, wages, parts and all the other things that go into running the buses on a daily basis.”
