Fire company holds flower sale in Albrightsville

Albrightsville Volunteer Fire Company held its 20th annual Mother’s Day flower sale. Begonias, petunias and geraniums were among the flowers sold at Pine Point Plaza in Albrightsville.

George Getz, a firemen for 47 years, said, “We sell out every year and also sold 140 Easter plants in four hours.”

Both hanging baskets and smaller potted plants were almost sold out an hour into the sale.

Connie Hoffman, of Lehighton, pulled up looking for two white petunias. Lucky for her, there were just two left. Hoffman said she “wants to complete my Mother’s Day pot, which also includes white geraniums.”

Hoffman planned to spend Mother’s Day with her daughters, six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Phyllis Spencer, of Albrightsville, bought a large hanging begonia to bring to her daughter for Mother’s Day brunch. Her son, Bobby Bruder, surprised her by visiting from York.

Proceeds from the flower sale will help with various expenses at the fire company.
