Palmerton holiday group seeks volunteers
The Holiday Lighting Committee is holding an open meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Palmerton Borough Hall Council Chamber, 443 Delaware Avenue, Palmerton. Committee members will be available to meet people interested in assisting with a variety of tasks happening throughout the Christmas in the Park event in the Borough Park.
“While joining our committee to help us plan is always an option, many people have expressed a desire to help in a less time-consuming way,” committee chairperson Michele O’Neill said. “There are many opportunities to become involved with this program ranging from one hour or a weekly time commitment to more sizable volunteer opportunities the day of the event.”
Some of the volunteer opportunities available include assisting with the tree placement, monitoring the park for loose ornaments or power outages, and helping with specific events during Christmas in the Park.
“We are continuing to modify and grow this popular Palmerton event, but we are a small committee and could use some additional help. We hope some will take the time to meet with us next week and assist where you are able,” O’Neill added.
This year’s Christmas in the Park event will take place on Saturday, Dec. 6 in the borough park with details of the day’s activities available at a later date.
The first week of December will again be “Christmas in Palmerton” with the Concourse Club’s Holiday House Tour kicking the weekend off on Friday, Dec. 5 and The Historical Society’s Ecumenical Service will be held on Sunday, Dec. 7 at The Little White Church.
