May 9, 2007 — The Tamaqua girls win 11 of the 18 events at the annual Schuylkill League Track and Field Championships at Blue Mountain. Casey Wagner leads the way for the Blue Raiders, taking both the javelin and high jump. Wagner records a 138-4 in the javelin to not only win but set a new meet record. She also captures the high jump by clearing 5-1. Four other Tamaqua athletes win multiple events, including Lauren Wenzel (200, 400), Megan Inama (long and triple jumps) and Alexa Griffiths (1600, 3200) in the girls competition and Isaac Dunkelberger (1600, 3200) in the boys. The Raiders also dominated the pole vault with firsts from Gabby Smarr and Bryant Butala. Also capturing a gold is Jim Thorpe’s Matt Taylor (400).
