Polling locations
Chestnuthill Township voters are reminded that two of the polling places have been changed.
Chestnuthill 1 (formerly downstairs at the West End Firehouse) has been moved to Effort United Methodist Church at 178 Merwinsburg Road, Effort.
Chestnuthill 2 (formerly upstairs at the West End Firehouse) has been moved to Chestnuthill Township Park Building at 221 Route 715, Brodheadsville.
Voters who prefer to vote by mail-in or absentee ballot have until May 13 to apply for the ballot and until 8 p.m. on May 20 to return it.
Middlers meet
The middle school students at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church, Brodheadsville, are slated to meet from 5:30-6:45 p.m.
Volleyball begins
Effort UMC is one of the sites that summertime volleyball. Play is planned for 7-9:30 p.m. Thursday.
Missions meal
Our Lady Queen of Peace Church is holding its monthly West End Missions meal at 4:30 p.m. Thursday.
Men’s Group meets
The Men’s group from St. Matthew’s Church, Kunkletown, will meet at 9 a.m. Saturday in the church grove.
SFRC Food Pantry
On Saturday, the Supplemental Food Resource Center at Effort UMC will be open from 10 a.m.-noon.
Donations sought this month include summer supplies such as ketchup, barbecue sauce, mustard, etc.
Purse bingo
Saturday, at the Polk Township Fire & Rescue Home, Kresgeville, a designer bag bingo will be taking place.
Doors open at 2:30 p.m. Game begins at 4 p.m.
Riders meeting
American Legion Riders, Chapter 927, Brodheadsville-Gilbert home on Route 209, will meet at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, Mother’s Day. Guests are welcome.

Our Lady Queen of Peace Church is holding its monthly Community Sunday Supper at 2:30 p.m.
Bingo night
Bingo will be held at 6:30 p.m. Monday at American Legion Post 927 on Route 209. The public is welcome. Card sales begin at 6:30; first game call is at 7 p.m.
There will be specials and there will be a full bar and kitchen service available.
OTOH meeting
Operation: Touch of Home is slated to meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the American Legion Post Home in Gilbert.
Birding the Bog
Monroe County Conservation District’s Kettle Creek Environmental Education Center will host a Birding the Bog programs on May 14 beginning at 7 a.m.

Bereavement group
St. Luke’ s Hospice offers a Brodheadsville bereavement group for adults at the Western Pocono Community Library.
The group is open to the public and is led by a St. Luke’s Hospice bereavement counselor. No preregistration is required. The next meetings will be held from 1-2:30 p.m. May 14.

Benefit dinner
Effort UMC’s Wesley Hall, Effort, is the site of a spaghetti dinner in support of Austin’s Blue Line set for 5-7 p.m. May 17.
Choose dine-in or takeout; the benefit helps support offered scholarships and suicide prevention.
Homemade baked goods and/or dessert are to be available.
Flea market
Folks are invited to plan to sell or buy at St. Peter’s UMC’s Spring Flea Market on May 17. Rain-date is May 24. The parking lot is highly visible on Route 115 in Saylorsburg.

Birthday bash
St. Matthew’s, Kunkletown, is celebrating its collective church family birthday bash in the Social Hall at 5 p.m. May 17.
The event includes a buffet dinner and entertainment. It is open to everyone.
It is asked that the church be informed as to who is coming and what will be brought by the person or family.
Folks are asked to tell what month they were born in and they will be asked to sit with their fellow month’s celebrants.

Seniors to be feted
The youth group at Our Lady Queen of Peace will celebrate its high school seniors with a barbecue at the church pavilion from 6:30-8:30 p.m. May 21. Participants are asked to bring a side dish to share.
Flower search
Monroe County Conservation District’s Kettle Creek Environmental Education Center has announced an April Showers to May Flowers program for 10 a.m. May 17.
Come and explore the unique world of flowers by visiting those present at the Kettle Creek Environmental Education Center.
Weather permitting, participants will spend time hunting for flowers on Kettle Creek trails. There is a cost.
Participants must preregister by calling 570-629-3061.
The center is located at 8050 Running Valley Road, Stroudsburg.
Hall rentals
Zion Lutheran Church, Brodheadsville, reminds the community that it has a parish hall available for rental for those special occasions.

The church’s worship services include: Saturdays at 5 p.m., Sundays at 8 a.m.-also via Zoom, and 10:30 a.m., also via Facebook Live.
A simple prerecorded spoken service is available on Facebook.
Sunday School is held at 9:15 a.m. on the second and fourth Sundays of the month.
Wednesday supper
Zion Lutheran, Brodheadsville, offers a free drive-thru pickup supper from 5-6 p.m. the third Wednesday of the month. The next one is scheduled for May 21.
All are welcome, states the church.
Outdoor flea market
Middlecreek Christian Church, Dorshimer Road, Kresgeville, has scheduled an outdoor flea market for June 7, rain or shine, from 9 a.m.-2 p.m.
The event will include lunch and baked goods available for purchase.

Habitat’s 35th
Monroe County Habitat for Humanity’s 35th anniversary will be celebrated at the Blueprints & Breakfast: Creating Homes for a Better Future breakfast, to be held from 8-9 a.m. June 11 at Camelback Resort. People can purchase individual personal tickets online or at the door. All are invited.
Tickets include a buffet breakfast. Tickets can be purchased online by May 30.
The Blueprints & Breakfast event will be dedicated to Weiler Abrasives for their long-term support of Habitat for Humanity, and their help in reaching the 35-year milestone. Breakfast is sponsored by Camelback Resort.

Think VBS
• St. Matthew’s ECC, Kunkletown, has announced its Vacation Bible School week for July 14 through July 18. It will be held from 9 a.m.-noon for children ages 3-11. Youth helpers are from ages 12-17.
A parent or adult must stay with 3- and 4-year-old students.
• Effort UMC will hold its VBS from July 21 through July 25, It will be held from 9 a.m.-noon. The theme is “Egypt: Joseph’s Journey from Prison to Palace.”
• Our Lady Queen of Peace Church, Brodheadsville, will host its VBS from July 28 through Aug. 1.
