Tamaqua police log

Tamaqua police reported on the following incidents:

• Jammy Lawson, 54, of Tamaqua, refused to turn down the tunes despite being asked by police to do so, and was cited for disorderly conduct.

According to Tamaqua police, officers investigated a report of loud music on the unit block of North Greenwood Street just before 7 p.m. April 19. Police said the caller said the music had been loud since 1 p.m. that day.

When officers arrived at the address, they did not hear any noise but advised the resident, Lawson, of the complaint. He was told to keep the music at a reasonable volume so that it could not be heard from the street.

An hour later, police were called back to the address for loud music, and this time, they could hear it from the street.

Officers repeatedly knocked on the door until Lawson answered, and was told to keep the music down. Lawson slammed the door on the officers and did not lower the volume.

He will receive a non-traffic citation.

• A Tamaqua man is facing charges of theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property after borough police said he took a broom from a porch.

Police said Joseph Coccio, 56, was spotted taking the broom valued at $13 from a porch on the 600 block of East Union Street at 5:18 p.m. April 24. Police said the theft was captured on video
