Local roundup: Results from May 5

Pleasant Valley earned wins in both softball and girls lacrosse on Monday, while Tamaqua’s softball team also registered a victory.

SOFTBALL

Pleasant Vy.-Stroudsburg

A bases-loaded walk in the top of the seventh inning broke a tie and proved to be the eventual game-winning run as Pleasant Valley edged Stroudsburg 8-7 in Eastern Pennsylvania Conference action.

Emma DePalma worked a 3-2 count with two outs before taking ball four to force in Abby Borger with the go-ahead run.

The Bears, winners of four of their last five games, received a 3-for-4 performance from Kailyn Getz, while Maddie Abbatiello also contributed a three-run double in the first inning.

Tamaqua-Mahanoy Area

Tamaqua won its sixth game in a row by recording an 8-1 Schuylkill League victory over Mahanoy Area in a game called in the sixth inning.

Nico Conahan led the Blue Raiders offensively with two hits, a run and four RBIs.

Conahan connected for a two-run single in the second inning and later delivered an RBI double in the fifth.

Addison Krall, Megan Linkhorst and Naomi Knitter all reached base three times on walks.

Winning pitcher Peyton Faust pitched 4 1/3 innings, allowing just two hits and an unearned run while striking out seven.

GIRLS LACROSSE

Danville Area-Pleasant Vy.

Pleasant Valley closed its regular season with a lopsided 16-1 non-conference victory over visiting Danville.

Rylee Rath paced the PV offense with five goals and an assist, while both Devon Bush and Morgan Ryals finished with three goals.

Bush added two assists, while Ryals also registered a helper. Sam Miller chipped in with a pair of goals.

The Bears will participate in the EPC playoffs and face Nazareth in the semifinals on Thursday at Northampton.
