Northwestern Lehigh’s Emma Freeman will represent the area on the Lehigh Valley Carpenter Cup softball team, which will compete in the prestigious tournament June 16 at FDR Park in Philadelphia.
Freeman, a pitcher and outfielder, joins a talented roster of underclassmen from schools across the Lehigh Valley. The team is scheduled to play three games on June 16 — against Philadelphia PCCAF (8 a.m.), Jersey Shore (10 a.m.), and Olympic Colonial (2 p.m.) — all on Field 5. Teams advancing from pool play will compete in the single-elimination round June 18.
In preparation for the tournament, Lehigh Valley will also play a doubleheader at Pates Park on June 11 against East and West squads composed of EPC and Colonial League senior all-stars. Each all-star team will feature approximately 20 players and will be coached by high school staff from the region.
The Carpenter Cup, sponsored by the Philadelphia Phillies, showcases top regional talent and provides exposure to college coaches in a competitive setting.
