May 2, 1973 — Ed Roman pitches a one-hit shutout to lead Marian to a 2-0 victory over Bishop Hafey. Roman allows a second-inning single and doesn’t allow a hit the rest of the way. The Colts’ hurler finishes with three walks and four strikeouts. Roman receives all the support he will need in the second when Marian scores a pair of runs. He starts off the rally with a single and steals second. After Jim Abromitis delivers a single, a balk scores Roman with the first run. Bernie Ogozolek brings home Abromitis with an RBI single. Roman and Bob Bydlon both finish with two hits.
