Northwestern’s softball team finished its Colonial League regular season undefeated after defeating Palmerton on Thursday.
SOFTBALL
Palmerton-Northwestern
Northwestern survived Palmerton’s six-run sixth inning by scoring nine in the bottom half to gain a 16-6 victory and finish Colonial League play undefeated.
The Tigers broke out to a 7-0 lead after four, but the Bombers got their six runs on a two-run home run by Grace Schneider, an RBI double by Olivia Kalman, and RBI singles from Mikayla Pengelly and Hailey Barry.
Northwestern quickly responded, getting its nine runs from an error, two walks, RBI singles from Rylee McGinley and Emma Freeman, and a two-run hit by Natalie Connor.
Despite allowing the six runs, three earned, Freeman struck out 10 in six innings.
The winners received three hits and three runs from Abby Dunstan, while Conner and Ella Bressi also finished with three hits. Palmerton’s Pengelly, Barry and Schneider all ended with a pair of hits.

Lehighton-Executive Education
Amber Yeakel went 3-for-3 with four RBIs and three runs scored to lead Lehighton to a 16-1 non-league win over Executive Education.
Ava Trach added two RBIs for the Indians, including an RBI double, while Makayla Scott finished 3-for-3 with two runs. Eryn Mertz and Makenna Snyder both collected a pair of hits, while Sophia Wise chipped in with two RBIs.
Trach and Aliyah Nothstein each pitched two innings and combined to hold the Raptors to only one run on four hits.

Lourdes-Panther Valley
Panther Valley scored nine runs in the first and added 10 in the third to cruise to a 19-4 Schuylkill League win over Lourdes.
The Panthers spread the offense around with eight different run producers, including six with multiple RBIs.
Isabella D’Ancona paced PV with four RBIs on a grand slam, while Brooklynn Mika and Kyla McQuillen each had two-run doubles as part of their three-RBI performances. Myla Krapf also contributed two hits, two runs and two RBIs.

Marian-Schuylkill Haven
Schuylkill Haven used a four-run fifth inning to rally against Marian and register a 7-5 victory in Schuylkill League competition.
The Fillies jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first thanks in part to a two-run single by Hailey Treskolasky and eventually carried a 5-2 advantage into the fifth.
In the home fifth, the Hurricanes got a bases-clearing single from Ally Becker and an RBI double by Joie Schoffstall to take the lead permanently.
Allison Scherer earned the win for Haven with 11 strikeouts, and only allowed two earned runs. Emily Upanavage took the loss for Marian despite having six strikeouts.

Eastburg South-Pleasant Valley
East Stroudsburg South used an eight-run sixth inning to take a lead over Pleasant Valley and pulled away for a 14-6 EPC win.
With the game tied 5-5 after five, the Carey sisters — Johanna and Taylor — started the rally for the Cavaliers with the first of four straight RBI singles. Erin Brozusky added a two-run double.
Brianca Pridham had three hits and an RBI for the Bears, while Jovie Valenzuela and Maddie Abbatiello both finished 2-for-4 with two RBIs. L Borger added a pair of hits and two runs.

Palmerton-Northwestern
Palmerton extended its winning streak to six games, as the Blue Bombers pulled off a 5-4 Colonial League upset win over Northwestern.
Palmerton took the lead with a four-run fourth inning, and then held off a late Tigers rally.
Mason George blasted a two-run home run to left field in the fourth, while Cory Serfass chipped in with a sacrifice fly.
Jason Carelli and Luke Matsko both finished with two singles for the winners, while Northwestern received two hits and an RBI from Cayden Fitch.

North Schuylkill-Tamaqua
A big offensive game from Mason Ligenza helped Tamaqua earn a 7-1 Schuylkill League victory over North Schuylkill.
Ligenza finished 3-for-3 with two homers. The senior slugger led off the home first with a solo blast and added a two-run shot in the sixth.
Jake Yenser pitched well for the Blue Raiders, who lead the Division 1 standings, allowing just four hits and one run while striking out six.
The winners also received a hit, a run and an RBI from Luke Kane.

A six-run fourth inning was all Pleasant Valley needed to gain a 6-2 EPC victory over visiting East Stroudsburg South.
Jacob George and Ty Borger keyed the Bears’ scoring as both posted two-run singles in the fourth. Kole Henry added a run with a sacrifice fly.
Braydon Green was PV’s only players with multiple hits, as he finished with two singles and a run scored.
London Smith earned the pitching win, allowing six hits and two runs in six innings while striking out six.

Marian-Schuylkill Haven
Marian nearly handed Schuylkill Haven its first Schuylkill League defeat, but the Hurricanes escaped with a narrow 4-3 victory.
Trailing 2-0, the Colts took the lead with a three-run fourth inning. Nate Davidovich delivered an RBI single, while Alex Diaz connected for a two-run double.
Haven kept its league record perfect, though, by scoring two times and holding Marian off the board the rest of the way.
Diaz finished 3-for-4 for Marian, while Alan Evans was 3-for-3 with three RBIs for the Hurricanes.

Lehighton suffered a 6-1 non-league loss to Executive Education.
The Raptors pushed their winning streak to three games, as starting pitcher Josue Rodriguez went the distance. Rodriguez struck out seven, walked two, allowed four hits and surrendered just one run.
Oscar Rog was 3-for-3 and knocked in two runs for the winners.
Cole Dietz was the only Indian to reach base more than once, as he had a single and also drew a walk. Aiden Solt added a hit and an RBI.

Weatherly-Nativity
In Schuylkill League action, Nativity defeated Weatherly by a 15-0 score.
Stephen Karinch paced the Hilltoppers with two singles, a run scored and two RBIs, while Andrew Verchak chipped in with a single, double, two runs and an RBI.
Nativity, which exploded for 12 runs in the second inning, also received two singles, two runs scored and an RBI from Barry Jenkins.
Nate Cooper and Andrew Verchick combined on a four-inning no-hitter, with Cooper tossing the first three frames and striking out five.

Pleasant Valley raced to an early lead and cruised to a 17-2 EPC victory over Northampton.
Devon Bush and Rylee Rath both scored four goals for the Bears, who jumped ahead 9-0 in the first quarter.
Bush also finished with three assists for the winners, who received goals from eight different players.
Sam Miller collected three goals, while Morgan Ryals added a pair.
