Day camps held
Monroe County Conservation District’s Kettle Creek Environmental Education Center offers summer day camps, with a multitude of learning opportunities and a variety of hands-on activities.
Camps offered include:
• Get in Touch with Nature, ages 7-10, June 16-20, July 28-Aug. 1 or Aug. 4-8. Campers must choose one week. The camp is very hands-on with nature, so plan on getting muddy.
• Adventure Camp, ages 11-13, June 16-20 or Aug. 4-8.
Choose one week to explore interesting places in the Poconos.
Camps registration is limited. Call 570-629-3061 or email dflint@monroecountypa.gov before paying for camp to ensure room is still available.
Camps are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m.-3:30 p.m., with late pickup available for an additional fee.
Car show ahead
St. Matthew’s ECC, Kunkletown, has announced its Strawberry Festival and 21st annual Car Show on June 15, Father’s Day, rain of shine.
Registration begin at 8 a.m. and continues until noon. Breakfast will be available from 8-10 a.m.
There is a worship service at 10 a.m.
Foods offered beginning at 11 a.m. and through 4 p.m. include: barbecue, hot dogs, hamburgers, salads, assorted beverages, strawberries, ice cream and shortcake.
The Brian Dean Moore Band will play from 1-4 p.m. Activities for children begin at 1 p.m.
Trophies are awarded at 3 p.m.
A portion of the car show proceeds will be donated to Monroe and Carbon counties Meals on Wheels programs.
