Grant to improve access at historic church

Palmerton plans to use funds to improve accessibility at a church in town.

Borough council, by a 6-0 measure, last week approved a request from the Palmerton Area Historical Society to utilize Community Development Block Grant funds to be applied for Americans with Disabilities Act parking for the Little White Church at 911 Third St.

After the meeting, borough Manager Autumn Canfield said the borough will be applying for fiscal year 2025 CDBG funds.

Canfield added that the borough’s entitlement amount of CDBG funds for fiscal year 2025 is $110,614.

However, she said the borough does not have an exact cost of the project at this time.

Councilman William Gallagher was absent.
