Lehigh Township supervisors approved the following:
• Payment Request Rejected: A final payment request of $45,200 from Vision Mechanical (Request 12) for the fire suppression system at the new maintenance building failed to pass.
Supervisors Cynthia Miller and David Jones voted against it, while Janet Sheats and Vice Chairman Gerald Pritchard voted in favor. The tie meant the request was denied in Chairman Mike Jones’ absence.
Manager Alice Rehrig noted the final parts were on-site and scheduled for installation Saturday. Miller expressed concern, saying, “What if they don’t work after testing? They can wait till next meeting.”
• A well/septic isolation distance waiver was approved for 538 Walnut Drive, with the property owner entering into a moving addendum.
• Residents Mike Hock and Zach Szoke gave a presentation on the township’s Land Preservation Program.
• Financial and grant updates: Manager Rehrig reported several updates, including: a CDBG grant application will be submitted in May for improvements to Spring, Carl, and Timberline roads.
• The cost to replace a damaged light at the Gap is estimated at $3,500. The township is seeking reimbursement from the responsible driver’s insurance. A grant for $123,000 was received for the public works department, reducing the maintenance building loan balance to $19,000.
• Attempts to get new insurance quotes were unsuccessful; the township’s current annual insurance premium is $70,386.
