Local Roundup: Results from April 21
Marian posted wins in both baseball and softball on Monday.
The two teams each gained victories against Nativity.
Other winners included Tamaqua in baseball, Northwestern and Panther Valley in softball, and Pleasant Valley in girls lacrosse.
BASEBALL
Marian-Nativity
Marian erupted for 10 runs in the seventh inning to run away with a 12-3 Schuylkill League victory over Nativity.
Down 3-2 entering the final frame, the Colts batted around to pull out the victory. Noah Bauder delivered a two-run single to give Marian the lead. Brayden Grant added a two-run double, while both Jon Derr and Bauder also contributed RBI doubles later in the inning.
The Colts’ Rocco Griguoli and Jacob Berlanda both chipped in with RBI singles.

Tamaqua-North Schuylkill
Tamaqua knocked off North Schuylkill, 5-2, in Schuylkill League action.
Mason Ligenza stole home in the third inning to put the Blue Raiders on the scoreboard first.
Luke Kane and Noah Mateyak both chipped in with RBI singles in the fifth inning, and then the Blue Raiders added two insurance runs — one on Cooper Ansbach’s sacrifice fly — to cap the scoring.
Kane paced the winners with a single, double, two runs scored and an RBI, while Mateyak added two singles, a run scored and an RBI.
Landon Kamant also finished with two singles.

Northwestern-Pen Argyl
Nick Haros’ RBI-single in the bottom of the seventh inning lifted Pen Argyl to a 5-4 Colonial League walk-off win over Northwestern.
Rocco DeCesare and Jaxx Billiard received back-to-back walks to lead off the home seventh. After one out, DeCesare raced home on Haros’ hit to the outfield.
Watson Church led the way for the Tigers with a single, two walks and a run scored.

Bethlehem Catholic scored early and late as the Golden Hawks posted an 8-2 Eastern Pennsylvania Conference victory over visiting Pleasant Valley.
The Bears trimmed a 5-0 deficit to 5-2 with a pair of runs in the fourth. After Braydon Green singled, Jacob George reached on catcher’s interference. With two outs, a throwing error allowed both Green and George to score.
Green led the way for PV with two singles, a double, and a run. Kole Henry added a pair of singles.

Northwestern-Pen Argyl
Emma Freeman struck out nine and walked two during a three-hit shutout as Northwestern defeated Pen Argyl 5-0 in Colonial League action.
Shelby Mitman opened the scoring in the first for the Tigers with a bases-clearing triple. Ainsley Behler made it 4-0 in the third with an RBI double, and Rylee McGinley chipped in an RBI in the fifth.
Despite taking the loss, Jillian Bradley struck out 11 for the Green Knights.

Executive-Panther Valley
Panther Valley used a 10-run second frame to pull away from Executive Education and win 15-0 in non-league play.
Kyla McQuillen led the Panthers with a 3-for-4 performance, picking up three RBIs, while Caroline Breslin and Morgan O’Brien each added two more RBIs.
Janessa Prudente was almost perfect in her three innings of work as she no-hit the Raptors and only allowed one walk.

Nativity-Marian Catholic
Marian scored all of its runs in the first inning to quickly pull away from Nativity for a 19-3 Schuylkill League win.
Ten different Fillies knocked in at least one run with Malina Letcher finishing with five RBIs, Hailey Treskolasky with three, and two each from Deanna Pugh, Chloe Cannon, and Savannah Sirkot.
In addition, seven Marian players (Letcher, Treskolasky, Pugh, Sirkot, Gracie Sendatch, Emily Upanavage and Kayla Birrer) all collected two hits.

Karlye Teman struck out 11 batters and allowed just one hit to help Palisades shut out Lehighton 14-0 in Colonial League play.
The Pirates received offense from seven different players, including four RBIs from Catie Russo, three from Brooklynn Lucas, and two each from Jordyn Bonelli and Fiona Kelleher.

Southern Lehigh scored eight runs in the first and seven in the second to earn a 15-0 Colonial League win over Jim Thorpe.
Hailey Schumaker led the Spartans offensively, going 2-for-2 with four RBIs and two runs scored. Brooke Davies and Demi Lewis each added three RBIs.
Solehi pitcher Delaney Young finished with a three-inning no-hitter.

Pleasant Valley-Bethlehem Catholic
Bethlehem Catholic edged out a 7-6 victory over Pleasant Valley in EPC competition.
Tied at three after five innings, the Bears put up a three-spot in the sixth to take the lead, which included a Katie VanSchoyck RBI double and a Brianca Pridham RBI single.
The Golden Hawks responded with four runs in the bottom half to flip the script. Sarah Banko and Angela Hodge each had RBI singles as part of the rally.
Kailyn Getz performed well in the circle for the Bears with 14 strikeouts. She also had two hits and scored a pair of runs on offense. Pridham collected two hits and three RBIs, while Maddie Abbatiello and Jovie Valenzuela both chipped in with a pair of hits.

Mallorie Croker hit an RBI single in the bottom of the seventh to walk off Tamaqua and give North Schuylkill a 4-3 Schuylkill League victory.
The Raiders jumped on top early with two runs in the first, and took a 3-2 lead into the fourth, only for Jordanna Frie to tie the game with an RBI double in the fifth.
Olivia Jones went six innings for the Spartans, holding the Raiders to just two hits and struck out eight.
Tamaqua’s hits came from Kolbe Robb and Ceanna Gormley. Raider pitcher Naomi Knitter struck out seven.

Rylee Rath’s five goals and an assist helped Pleasant Valley register a commanding 17-1 non-league victory over Boyertown.
PV’s Devon Bush contributed four goals and four assists, while Olivia Iandoli chipped in with four goals and a helper.
