A statewide low interest loan program is once again helping emergency service provides in Carbon County to better their organizations.
The Aquashicola Fire Company and Mahoning Valley Ambulance Association this week received loans totaling $107 through the Pennsylvania State Fire Academy’s low-interest loan program.
Fire company officials received a 2 percent loan totaling $55,000 to help pay for a 1996 Lexington Tanker while the ambulance association received a $52,371 loan at the same rate. Those funds will help in part to pay for a new building the company commissioned a Palmerton contractor to build at a cost of $396,000.
Funding for the loan program is raised through bond sales authorized by the state legislature in 1980 and 1988.
