Local Roundup: Results from April 18

Palmerton earned wins in both baseball and softball action on Friday.

Both Blue Bomber teams defeated Wilson.

BASEBALL

Palmerton-Wilson

Palmerton stormed back from an early deficit to gain a 9-5 Colonial League victory over Wilson.

The Blue Bombers trailed 4-0 and 5-1 before scoring the game’s final eight runs to reach the .500 mark.

Mason George had a hit and two RBIs for the winners, while Luke Matsko and Brady Reph both added a hit, two runs and an RBI.

Winning pitcher Cameron Pengelly scored two runs and struck out seven while allowing just two earned runs in six innings of work.

SOFTBALL

Palmerton-Wilson

Tessa Sander and Mikayla Pengelly both hit home runs to help power Palmerton to a 9-3 Colonial League win over host Wilson.

Sander delivered a two-run blast in the first inning to give the Blue Bombers a lead, while Pengelly connected for a solo shot during a five-run seventh frame that put the game out of reach.

Pengelly finished with three hits to help Palmerton run its winning streak to three games. Sander added a pair of hits to go along with her two runs and two RBIs, while Mackenzie Ferber and Hailey Barry both collected two hits. Ferebr knocked in two runs, while Barry scored twice.

Barry earned the win, striking out five, while allowing five hits and three walks.
