April 17, 1970 — Rick Kester pitches a five-hitter and Pete Haja connects for a home run to help Palmerton gain a 5-1 Lehigh Valley League victory over rival Lehighton. Kester keeps the Indians off the board for the first six innings before allowing a run in the final frame. Haja gives the Blue Bombers an early lead with his two-run blast in the opening inning. The winners receive a pair of hits, one a triple, and a run from Randy Stubits while Gruber adds two hits and a run scored. Rick Mertz also chips in with a hit and two runs. For Lehighton, Barry Reed finishes with two hits, both doubles.
