Justin Gray, 33, of California, was sent to the Schuylkill County Prison on charges of simple assault and harassment after Tamaqua police said he fought with a man with whom he and his wife had a polyamorous relationship.
According to police, officers were called to a home on the 200 block of Cedar Street at 2:22 a.m. April 7 for a report of a man punching someone.
Officers spoke to a woman on the front porch who said nothing was happening and then ran inside. When police went upstairs, they found Gray, who had blood on his shirt and said he had punched another man, who was on the side of a bed and had blood on his face.
Gray was handcuffed and an ambulance was called for the other man.
While in custody, Gray said that his wife’s family called and started an argument. He and his wife went to their house, where a verbal argument occurred after the family said they heard “things” from the man who was later punched.
Gray said he and his wife went to Tamaqua to see the other man. Gray said that his wife’s boyfriend is the man that he punched, and that they are all in a polyamorous relationship.
Gray’s wife said she was out with a friend and the other man accused her of cheating on him. That’s when Gray confronted the man and attempted to tackle him. Another man attempted to break up the fight, but Gray struck the wife’s boyfriend and kicked him.
Gray was arraigned and sent to prison on $10,000 percentage bail.
