Route 309 in West Penn Township has been reduced to one lane after a fallen tree struck a heavy Verizon cable, bringing it down near the roadway.

As West Penn fire officials were on scene a passing tractor trailer hit the cable pulling a utility pole, holding the cable down onto the personal truck of West Penn fire chief Jeff Bradford.

The scene is about a half mile north of the village of Snyders.
