Officials seek information in Poconos cold case
Officials from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children in Alexandria, Virginia, and the Richmond County District Attorney’s Office, New York, continue to search for a girl who was last seen 33 years ago at the Mount Airy Lodge, Mount Pocono, when she was 2 years old.
In a press release, officials said Christa Nicole Belusko, missing since 1991, may still be alive.
She was last seen with her mother, Christine Belusko, whose brutally-murdered body was discovered on Sept. 20, 1991, in a vacant lot on Staten Island, New York.
Despite efforts to identify her at the time, Christine remained unknown until 2021, when advances in DNA technology and genealogy confirmed her identity.
According to Angeline Hartmann, director of communications at NCMEC, investigators have created an age-progressed image showing what Christa Nicole might look like today, hoping it will generate new leads in the decades-old case.
“Our age-progressed images are critical tools for finding missing children who’ve grown into adults,” she said. “We know that these images can help lead to answers, even in cases that are decades old. We ask everyone to share this image of Christa Nicole. You never know who might have the key to bringing her home.”
The press release said the Richmond County District Attorney’s Office, which has been committed to solving this case for more than 30 years, has never given up the search for Christa Nicole.
