Fire companies from Carbon and Schuylkill counties were on scene for the second day this morning of a stubborn brush fire in Franklin Township.
Firefighters were called to the site at 7:30 a.m. Saturday when neighbors reported flames climbing up the side of the hill in heavy brush.
Fire officials grew concerned as the fire jumped the natural barrier of Spruce street and was traveling east.
Fire companies from Franklin Township, Parryville, Bowmanstown and the South Ward of Tamaqua as well as numerous units of the DCNR are on scene.
Once again high winds fanned the flames.
