Kuehner Fields has agreement on trees
Residents at Kuehner Fields have come to an agreement about the placement of trees.
Eldred Township solicitor Michael Gaul told the supervisors at their meeting on Oct. 16 that Kuehner Fields estate subdivision tree plan is being revised.
Greg Sanders, a land developer for S&D Land Co. who is working on the subdivision, said permission was obtained from all the homeowners regarding the tree placements. He said the residents of three of the houses didn’t want any trees, but the rest agreed to having trees planted and selected where they wanted the trees to go.
Elizabeth Sanchez, one of the homeowners, said the residents formed a tree committee and were able to get the input from all of the neighbors in order to get the problem solved.
“We got everybody to sign off on which trees they wanted,” she said. “We wanted to make sure they were species that would be environmentally good for the community.”
Sanchez said the committee consulted with an environmentalist to make sure they were selecting the right trees, not just pretty ones but also those good for the community.
Sanchez said they’ve been working on this project for two years. They put the names of the owners on their lots on the map and marked where on the map the owners would like the trees to be planted. The environmentalist looked at the map and approved where the trees are located.
The supervisors approved the plan on the condition of the approval of the solicitor and the township engineer.
Greg Sanders asked how long it would take for the plan to be approved by the solicitor and township engineer. He said he has a nursery and landscaper ready to do the work. The fall is the best time to plant trees, and they would like to move on this immediately to get the trees planted before winter.
Gaul said he expected review of the plan to be completed in about a week.
