Crews worked overnight on repairing a water main break that happened late Monday afternoon on Evergreen Avenue in Weatherly, near the Weatherly Area school complex, a nursing home and an assisted living facility.
Borough Manager Harold Pudliner said that the break occurred at 4:30 p.m. on a low spot on Evergreen Avenue. The 6-inch line, which ran at a 45-degree angle under a culvert, was also encased in concrete, prolonging repairs, he said.
Crews completed the work late Tuesday morning, Pudliner said.
Borough residents remain under a boil advisory for the east side of town until further notice. Pudliner said crews must conduct water tests, and have two consecutive coliform-free tests before lifting the advisory.
Residents did experience low water pressure or have no water as crews worked to find, isolate and repair the leak, he said. Water pressure was expected to rebound as the water tanks fill.
The borough put its emergency plan into place, setting up water tankers at Heritage Hill Senior Living Community and Forest Hills Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center.
Tankers were also in place at Eurana Park for residents, Pudliner said.
The Weatherly Area School District closed Tuesday due to the break.
