Lehigh Twp. Fire Dept. busy with programs
The Lehigh Township Fire Department had a busy Friday.
Members did fire prevention at Lehigh Elementary in the morning, then set up for their first Trunk or Treat that evening at 6 p.m.
Dana Krische helped to organize the event.
“It is a great turnout. It’s all about the community,” Krische said. “There are so many rural homes in our community. Houses are far between each other.
“This is a safe way to have trick or treat. We had 14 trunks and free hot dogs, candy, stickers and water for all from Lehigh Township Fire Company.”
The event was free.
“Next year, we hope to have it bigger and better with music and games,” Krische added. “If it grows like we hope it will, we may have to find a bigger space for the event. (It’s) one of the ways to give back to the community.”
Ken Joseph was there for the Lions Club of Lehigh Township, handing out candy.
The Lions Club donated the remaining pumpkins for the kids to decorate from Canal Days.
“We just want to support the community,” Joseph said.
He said the Lions Club is considering a Leo Club for older youths under 18, who would be interested in community service.
Furry Feet Rescue of Walnutport was in attendance with candy for the kids, along with Lab/mix Lola and Boston terrier Aggie that were dressed for the occasion.
Michelle Geyerr of Furry Feet said, “We are totally operating on donations and fundraising. We currently have 21 dogs for foster and or adoption.”
Furry Feet will have its next pet vaccine clinic from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Sunday at Lehigh Township Fire Company.
