Troop M releases enforcement data

The Pennsylvania State Police, Troop M, Bethlehem, have announced the results of a troopwide traffic enforcement detail that was conducted on Tuesday throughout the troop’s coverage areas in Lehigh, Northampton and Bucks counties.

During the initiative, police issued 178 traffic citations and 56 warnings. They made two arrests for driving under the influence and two arrests for possession of controlled substances. In addition, police said one person was taken into custody after it was determined there was an outstanding warrant issued for that person.

Police said the enforcement detail’s objective was to conduct aggressive, visible enforcement resulting in increased highway safety.

They remind motorists of the mandates of Fleeing or Attempting to Elude Police Officer, which stipulates any driver of a motor vehicle who refuses to bring their vehicle to a stop, or who otherwise flees or attempts to elude a pursuing police officer, commits an offense, graded up to a felony of the third degree, which carries a maximum sentence of seven years in prison, a $15,000 fine and restitution for damages and/or injuries sustained as a result of the pursuit.
