Students paint Lansford windows

Panther Valley High School students helped Lansford’s downtown area to prepare for the upcoming Veterans Day parade.

Fifteen students painted windows Wednesday morning at 11 locations, drawing American flags or painting messages honoring veterans.

The painting project was coordinated by Lansford Alliance with Jen Maynard, a teacher in Panther Valley High School.

The annual Carbon County Veterans Day Parade will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 10, in Lansford, hosted by Lansford American Legion Post 123.

The painted windows are at establishments along Ridge Street, which is part of the parade route.

Joe Genits, a board member of Lansford Alive, said the organization treated the young painters to pizza and drinks at Marcos Pizza and Cabrera’s Pizzeria & Restaurant after completing the project.

Students who helped were Ava Alabovitz, Kayla Alburger, Brody Breiner, Madison Fisher, Ajete Gjoca, Jessica Hackash, Callie Kosciolek, Brennan Kunkle.

Also, Gabby Maldonado, Brooklynn Mika, Morgan Orsulak, Maddie Scherer, Brooklyn Surotchak, Izzy Washousky and Gino Williams.

“We’re happy with the contribution by these students,” Genits said.

Businesses that participated are Marco’s Pizza, Community Bank, Key Bank, Thankful Thrift, Gathering Grounds, Panther Valley Athletics.

Also, Delrose Awards, Cabrera’s Pizzeria & Restaurant, American Cancer Society, Lansford Borough Hall and Lansford Coaldale Joint Water Authority.
