Parryville gets help from former manager
A familiar face has been hired as Parryville’s interim borough administrator.
Borough council on a unanimous vote Monday appointed Nicole Beckett to the position, retroactive to Oct. 5.
Council President Jason Smith said Tuesday morning that it’s a salaried position.
“Nicole’s salary is currently to be determined,” Smith said. “She is evaluating the needs and our current shortcomings.”
Smith said that council previously hired Meghan Sander as administrator, but that she resigned from the position Oct. 11.
Council hired Sander in March. She replaced Cathy Hawk, who had also served as council president.
Smith said that Beckett “brings a wealth of experience and expertise to this critical role.”
“In a time when fiscal prudence is paramount, Ms. Beckett’s skills will be essential in evaluating the borough’s needs, providing strategic insights for our future, and reinforcing our commitment to the residents,” Smith said. “With her exemplary track record in local government, Parryville borough is privileged to benefit from her leadership and knowledge.”
Beckett previously served as Lehighton borough manager before she resigned May 20, 2022.
She accepted the position of associate director of public services at the Robert B. and Helen S. Meyner Center for the Study of State and Local Government at Lafayette College.
Beckett’s salary was $97,031 with Lehighton Borough.
Lehighton Borough Council hired Beckett as a consultant through Aug. 21, 2022, at the rate of $1,200 per month.
