Bowmanstown debates zoning for solar field
Bowmanstown continues plans to move forward with a zoning permit concerning solar panels in East Penn Township on borough property.
After some discussion, borough council on Tuesday agreed to leave a zoning appeal in the hands of council President Pam Leiby, who will get more information on solar fields.
Last month, council agreed to submit a zoning application for the solar panel field along Route 895, right after the last house on the left heading west, with the address of 1938 E. Lizard Creek Road.
It was stated at that time the application is in the hands of the East Penn Township zoning officer.
Tunnel lighting
Also on Tuesday, council announced that a quote that for new lighting in the tunnel that runs under Route 248 is still valid.
Council said electrician Duane Frable wants to meet to review the lights and ensure he’s doing everything the borough wants.
Last month, council approved a quote in the amount of $3,069 from Frable & Son Electrical Services to upgrade the tunnel lighting.
The measure was approved in terms of safety and to stop people from camping inside the tunnel.
In March 2022, a mural in the tunnel was vandalized and graffiti had returned under the tunnel where the Bowmanstown Area Residents Concerned hung the mural.
