Monroe man charged after stabbing death

A 30-year-old Stroudsburg man has been charged following a fatal stabbing incident Sunday in the 300 block of Main Street in Stroudsburg.

Justin Anthony Martinez was arrested by Stroud Area Regional Police on criminal homicide charges in connection with the death of Robert Lozano III, 41, of Stroudsburg.

Police said they were summoned Sunday at 4:20 p.m. to the stabbing scene and found Lozano laying on the sidewalk, suffering from multiple stab wounds to his neck and upper body area. He was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead at 4:43.

Police said they learned Lozano arrived on the 300 block of Main Street to drop off his children to their mother. They said he was met on the front porch of the residence by Martinez, who they identified as a brother of the children’s mother.

Police said a physical altercation followed and witnesses told police the two men broke through the banister of the porch and fall onto the sidewalk. They said Lozano was found on the ground, covered in blood, and a steak knife was found on the ground by the porch.

Police said Martinez called 9-1-1 and said he stabbed a man and was in front of the residence waiting for police, who arrived at the scene and took him into custody.
