Mahoning man charged in assault

A Mahoning Township man faces assault and other charges after a domestic dispute turned physical Tuesday.

Joshua J. George, 21, of Lower Nis Hollow Drive, was arraigned on charges of simple assault, harassment and endangering the welfare of children and released on $25,000 unsecured bail.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled before District Judge Beth Dodson Oct. 16.

According to court papers, George had been fighting during the day with his girlfriend, and he grabbed her by the throat and slammed her against the wall.

She left the residence with their youngest child, but went back inside to get their older child. George hit her in the side of the head, while she held the younger child, court papers said.
