Rush Twp. office staff resigns, reasons not released

Rush Township’s office staff has quit.

On Sept. 20, the township’s secretary/treasurer Sydney Woleslagle and administrative assistant Kristin Woleslagle resigned from their posts.

Both resignations were approved at Thursday’s Rush Township board of supervisors meeting.

Board Vice Chairman Robert Leibensperger made the motion, however, noted that it was approved but without the “reasons behind the resignations.”

Asked by an attendee what the reasons were, Leibensperger said personnel matters cannot be publicly discussed.

Kristin Woleslagle had been employed by the township for a number of years, while Sydney Woleslagle was hired in May.

The township has had four employees in the position of secretary/treasurer since November. All have resigned.

The board hired Jeaninne Motroni, a former supervisor, to serve as temporary secretary at a rate of $20 per hour. Supervisor George Gerhard voted “no.”

In an unrelated matter, the supervisors approved paperwork for sidewalks, stormwater and traffic signal maintenance for the proposed Wawa convenience store near the intersection of Tide Road and Route 309 in the village of Hometown.

Developers from Provco Pineville Acquisitions of Villanova plan to build a 55,000 square-foot store with six fueling stations. The property is adjacent to the My Brother’s Beer Barn and across Route 309 from the Hometown Commons, which includes a Walmart, Dollar Tree, Taco Bell and other retail stores.

While the Wawa project has been underway for some time, township officials said it will be at least until next year until work begins. Another holdup is a highway occupancy permit that is needed from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, officials explained.

“You are not going to see any construction until next year,” explained township engineer William McMullen from ARRO Engineering.
