Nesquehoning Borough Council wants to remind residents that changes to the garbage pickup times go into effect Oct. 1.
Councilwoman Suzanne Smith, who chairs the sanitation committee, reminds everyone that trash should be now put out the night before since Tamaqua Transfer is scheduled to begin after midnight.
Smith said that the company won’t be there right at midnight, but urged residents to begin the earlier trash times.
Pickups are expected to begin first on Catawissa Street, however the exact routes for trash collection have not been announced.
In addition, the new sanitation contract adds a second large item pickup day. Anyone wishing to get rid of a large item via the trash can now do so on the first and third weeks of the month.
At this time, the current trash bill cost for residents remain the same.
Discussion on an increase in the trash bill cost will take place over the next few months as the borough works out the 2025 budget.
