Garden Club
The Lewistown Valley Garden Club held its August meeting on Aug. 27 in the Zion Church social hall, Lewistown Valley. An informative program on butterflies was presented by Ann Sandherr and was enjoyed by all.
Arrangements were judged and found outstanding. Noreen Rosso, Sharon Herring and Evelyn Adams all received first place. Specimens of blooming flowers were judged with ponitas from Georgene Gallagher in first place; a marigold from Cindy Sabol in second place; and a passionflower from Sue Hower in third place.
The next meeting will be held Sept. 24 beginning with lunch at 11:30 a.m. at a local restaurant followed by a tour of a local farm at 1 p.m. Crafts and flowers will be available for purchase at the farm.

New members are always welcome. Regular meetings are held at 1 p.m. on the fourth Tuesday of each month the Zion Church social hall in Lewistown Valley.
Calvary Lewistown
Pastor Kim Leskovich will share the message of “Celebrating Jesus” at the 10:30 a.m. Sunday service at Calvary Evangelical, Lewistown Valley. There will be special music.
Sunday school for all ages is at 9:15 a.m. and evening praise and sharing for all ages is at 6:30 p.m. with a Bible lesson presented by Terry Gerber. All services and activities have returned to the church at 824 Valley Road.
Small group prayer for all ages will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday.
The annual Sunday School Rally Day will be held at 10:30 a.m. Oct. 13 with a play, puppet and experiments. There will be a musical program by the Roth family of Lebanon at 6:30 p.m.
St. Peter’s - West Penn
The 9 a.m. Sunday worship service at St. Peter’s Church in West Penn Township features a Blessing of the Animals. Sunday school is at 10:15 a.m. Sunday, and Girl Scouts meet at 6 p.m. Sunday.
The church board meets at 6 p.m. Wednesday. The Cherub Choir meets at 6 p.m. Sept. 26, with the Senior Choir to follow at 7 p.m.
Zion Lewistown
Pastor Jim Williams will officiate the 10:30 a.m. Sunday service at Zion Church in Lewistown Valley. Sunday school is scheduled for 9:30 a.m.
“The Chosen” will be shown at 2 p.m. Sunday in the social hall.
