Community comes together at Penn Forest fall festival

Music by “Teacher and The Poet” from Jim Thorpe filled the air during the fall craft festival held this past Saturday at Penn Forest Park. The band “Friends of Roger” also played.

Jenn Bevilacqua, one of the organizers, said, “We do this to get the community together. We also do movies under the stars and have a tree lighting with Santa at the park.”

Eighteen vendors were selling their unique products. First time seller Jessica Goldner of “Kaous Krafts” was selling handmade resin candle holders and planters.

Fred Heller has been making guitars as a hobby for 15 years and had his hand carved one piece, semi hollow and solid body guitars for sale. His wife Lori has been selling shirts, pennants, homemade ornaments and signs for 18 years.

Meloney Pettit from Jim Thorpe had steady business in her five dollar and under jewelry booth. She’s been selling for over 30 years and still offers her products at five dollars and under. This was her first year selling at the park.

Two-year-old Maceo Duncan, with his mom Monica Vega, was having fun trying to shoot a ball onto a huge Velcro dartboard. He rested in between by sitting on the ball.

There was also a large inflatable funhouse for the kids.

Boy Scout Troop 138 out of Jim Thorpe ran a food stand with hamburgers, hot dogs, funnel cakes and other treats. Scoutmaster Lance Szoke said they have been “crazy busy.”

The weather was perfect whether you were looking for unique clothes, jewelry, housewares, candles or just enjoying the park.
