Argall, Heffley host event on damaged license plates

State Sen. Dave Argall (R-29) and Rep. Doyle Heffley (R-122) will host an event where damaged or illegible license plates can be replaced for free on Thursday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Kidder Township Municipal Building, 10 Lake Harmony Road, Lake Harmony.

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation is required by law to replace license plates free of charge if they are deemed illegible by law enforcement or a certified inspection mechanic.

A local police officer will be on hand to conduct plate inspections and sign the appropriate form.

Registration is required for this event to ensure officers are available.

Those interested in attending can RSVP by calling 570-773-0891.

The announcement of a new state license plate will not impact this event.

The new plate design, which features the Liberty Bell in celebration of the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, will not be available until 2025.
