Cruise aids firefighters

Krystal Borman, head of the fundraising committee for the Slatington Fire Department, was grateful for the turnout at the first Bike Night and Car Cruise, which was held Sunday.

All donations go directly to the Slatington Fire Department.

The next event for the department will be the Bike Night and Car Cruise Halloween Bash from 4-7 p.m. Oct. 26 at the Slatington Fire Station, 524 W. Church St.

“For this event, we will have soup made by our members,” Borman said. “All soup will be free. Come out and try each one and vote for the best while supplies last.”

There will also be a prize for the best adult Halloween costume.

Earl Bollinger of Walnutport brought his 1957 Chevrolet Cameo pickup to display Sunday at the Slatington Fire Department’s first Bike Night and Car Cruise. There were only 2,230 made. Bollinger, who has been restoring vehicles since he was 14 years old, restored the rare pickup to its original condition three years ago. It has a 348-cubic-inch engine.
