Kunkletown man charged with child pornography

A Kunkletown man has been charged with child pornography.

According to the affidavit of probable cause filed by Cpl. Jonathan Bailey of the Pennsylvania State Police Troop I, Computer Crime Unit, in the case against Trayton Perez:

On Aug. 20, Bailey received three cyber tip reports from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children that stated that from December 2023 through July 23, 2024, Kik, Snapchat and Dropbox became aware of three videos depicting child sexual abuse associated by an IP address. The Instagram account was associated with a phone number.

The Kik cybertip detailed a video being sent from the user “phonelxfire.”

Bailey identified Perez, 21, at the address associated with the accounts. A search of a state police database identified an incident involving a disseminating of an intimate image report.

The person in the report accused Perez of recording and sending a nude video/image of her through the social media application Discord. She was previously in a romantic relationship with Perez.

On Sept. 4, the Southeast Computer Crime Unit served a warrant at the residence, where Perez was identified in an adjacent bedroom and in possession of a custom desktop computer, an iPhone 12, and four hard drives (including a red flash drive connected to the desktop computer).

Perez acknowledged that the reason for the investigation involved him downloading child sex abuse material.

He said at one time he came across three to four files while searching for video games online, and that he had deleted the files afterward.

He recalled using Kik, Snapchat and Dropbox, but said he could not remember the last time he had used them.

Perez said that he was the sole user of the accounts and his devices. Perez’s devices were seized and previewed on scene.

After a review of the contents of the videos, Perez was taken into custody and transported to PSP Lehighton for processing. The devices were seized and transported to a state police lab in Fogelsville for further examination.

Perez faces charges of four counts of child pornography, and one count each of disseminating photo/film of child sex acts and criminal use of communication facility. All of the charges are felonies.

Perez was jailed in the Monroe County Prison in lieu of $50,000 bail, which was later posted. He is scheduled to have a preliminary hearing at 10 a.m. Sept. 19 before District Judge Colleen Mancuso of Brodheadsville.
