Several Carbon County fire companies were dispatched Sunday afternoon to a water rescue at Mauch Chunk Lake. The incident occurred around 3 p.m. when reports came in of a person in distress on the lake. Fire companies from Summit Hill, Jim Thorpe and the Lehighton water rescue units responded. Just east of boat launch B in or near a cove rescuers found a man and an overturned kayak. No injuries were reported in the mishap. Summit Hill police are investigating the incident.
