Weissport Borough Council will be choosing street projects for the borough to be done in the near future.
Mike Muffley of Hanover Engineering, the borough engineer, put together a list of various street projects that the borough can consider. There are different levels of the projects from just tarring and chipping to complete street replacements.
Some of the streets named as being especially in need of repair include parts of White Street, Allen Street, Forge Street, and Franklin Street.
The borough has approximately $129,000 in Liquid Fuels money to use to pay for the projects.
Once council decides on a project, it is submitted to Liquid Fuels, which assigns it a project number. Other area utilities such as UGI will need to do any necessary work to their lines before the project begins.
The Municipal Liquid Fuels Program, run by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, funds a range of projects to support the construction, reconstruction, maintenance, and repair of public roads or streets. Liquid fuels can only be used on road work.
