Polk hearing zoning request, buying truck

Polk Township Supervisors will purchase a bucket truck at a cost of $164,999 and $5,493 for upgrades for new lights for safety equipment.

The roadmaster said that four new tires have been put on the backhoe and tires will be replaced on the utility truck.

Blue Ridge will begin trenching for fiber optic lines. Residents will be notified when this will be occurring and the board asked for the residents’ patience during this process.

Gold Coast ingredients located at 1127 Interchange Road requested a change from R-3 zone to an industrial zone.

A hearing will be held for this zoning change at 6 p.m. prior to the next supervisors meeting.

It was also noted that residents are paving driveways that run into township roads and not getting permits. Homeowners are required to get permits for this.

The township engineer and the engineer from Hamlet Estate-Pocono need to meet so a time extension request until Sept. 23 was granted.

Polk Township Fire Company reported 23 emergency calls for the month, with 151 year- to- date. One hundred and forty-one hours of training and 191 hours of fundraising were reported.

Monthly breakfasts at the firehouse will be held beginning Sunday, Sept. 15.
