Work at the South Ward and North and Middle Ward playgrounds in Tamaqua will begin around Sept. 9, according to Borough Manager Kevin Steigerwalt.

A handicapped accessible path and an area outside the concession stand at the North and Middle Ward will be resurfaced.

The South Ward’s fence will be replaced, and one at the North and Middle Ward will be replaced once a contract is awarded.

In other business, council:

• Approved a proposal from C&V Construction to make $1,770 in repairs to the fire training area.

• Approved a “Slow: Children Playing” sign on East Union Street near the intersection of Pine Street.

• Learned that the Halloween Parade will be held beginning at 7 p.m. Oct. 22, with a rain date of Oct. 23.
